Whitehead & Associates Are Experts in Helping Municipalities Upgrade Lighting Infrastructures

Whitehead & Associates, an Atlanta-based electrical manufacturer’s representative, is a leading expert in retrofit LED solutions that maximize efficiency while reducing a municipality’s carbon footprint. In several projects throughout the southeastern United States, Whitehead has utilized state and federal grant monies for LED retrofits of existing infrastructure that save municipalities on energy costs. Most importantly: The LED retrofits maximize efficiency and reduce the impact on residents’ wallets.

CHALLENGE: OUTDATED INFRASTUCTURE, EXCESSIVE COSTS

Hampered by tight budgets, cities and towns across the United States are challenged with an outdated lighting infrastructure that drains cash from more important priorities. Officials burned by more-pressing issues are unable to utilize state and federal grant money to update long-outdated technology.

SOLUTION: OUT WITH THE OLD, IN WITH THE NEW WITH LEDs

Weary lighting fixtures, like 250-and 400-watt high-pressure sodium bulbs common in many municipalities, are easily replaced with LED technology with maximum savings and efficiency. LED retrofits (burning 50 percent less energy) can increase the lifecycle of old lights by more than 15 years. Whitehead expertly navigates the government grant system without burdening the municipality.

RESULTS: INCREASED EFFICIENCY, COST SAVINGS, SEEING THE LIGHT

LED retrofits reduce ongoing maintenance costs (extending the lights’ lifecycle by 15 years) while producing a higher quality of light that increases public safety. Energy savings extend through the entire life of the equipment, returning the cost of a municipality’s initial investment in less than five years. The reduction can translate into more than $6,000 cost savings per 100 fixtures over a 12-year period for a small city.

LEDs can save a municipality up to 70 percent on electrical utility costs while increasing quality.

Efficiency; less impact on residents’ pocketbooks: Retrofitting with LEDs is a smart solution.
